PROMISE KEPT

MELBA SINGS FOR SAILORS. SYDNEY, June 1. Melba sang to an audience of white folk and lascars on the steamer Naldcra last night. When coming from England on the vessel she promised to give a concert to the ship’s company, but regulations prevented it.

She kept her word, for last night she attended the vessel, berthed at Wooloomooloo. with Mr John Lemmone (flautist), Mr Stuart Robertson (accompanist), and a fine programme was given. Melba sang nine songs, including “Home, Sweet Home,” and “Cornin’ Through the Rye.”
