tralian and N.Z. Cable Assn. LONDON, June 18. New Zealand commenced its northern tour with a match against Durham, which last year won the second class counties championship. The match early attracted 3000 spectators, and the attendance soon afterwards grew to 0000.

The Now Zealanders opened the batting and rattled up the line score of 373. Dempster was in his best form, and scored 178 in 192 minutes. Blunt, Page and Caere all played bright innings; Durham in their

second innings had eight w.ickets down for 111 when stumps were drawn for the day, Henderson and Blunt causing a procession.
