The miners’ executive telegraphed to Mr Evan Williams, chairman of the coal-owners, asking if his invitation to meet on the open situation meant that the owners’ proposals would he withdrawn, and negotiations could be resumed where broken off. It is stated that the miners prefer negotiations to a court of inquiry. The Mining Association telegraphed to the Miners’ Federation Conference at Sarbough, offering to meet representatives to discuss proposals for a new agreement, but declaring that the owners cannot withdraw the notices of termination of the agreement.
