HOCKEY.

The first game of the hockey competition took place oh the New Plymouth racecourse on Saturday, when an exciting game between New Plymouth and Stratford was witnessed by the few spectators preserat. The result was a draw, 3 points, to 3. New Plymouth play Eltham at Eltham on. June 20 in the second gpnie of the competition. In the southern division of the Taranaki ladies' hockey tournament on Saturday Hawera Wanderers were defeated by Kaponga by five to nil, while the Manaia team drew with; Hawera Rovers, one all.
