THE TAXI STAND.
BOROUGH COUNCIL DISCUSSION; NO DECISION FOR NEW SITE. The application of the Stratford taxi-proprietors for a site for the taxistand near the Post Office was again referred to. at the meeting of the' Borough Council last evening. Or. Hewitt (chairman of the Works ! Committee) said lie had interviewed! the taxi-proprietors, and had also. considered the matter with thoi Stationmaster and Postmaster, and 1 he believed that a site could be obtained at the back of the old Post Office or in front of the new Post Office. The taxi-proprietors had arranged to discuss the position with him, and had agreed to attend the meeting that evening. But they didn't see him, and didn't come to the meeting, «o he thought the Council should not go to any further trou-j ble. It had been mentioned that a telephone could be arranged for, to ( cost about £3O to £4O on the instal-, ment plan, but the cost was too much' for them, he understood. I The Council took no action. .
