Kenworthy, who asked v^ s it true |t(hat expensive alterations and enlargements at Singapore were being carried out without fortification. Sir Worthington Evans (Sec. of State for War) said that a plan of fortifications at present’was being considered. London, April 7. In the .House of. replying to a question regarding Empire Wireless, Sir William Mitchell-Thomison said the Rugby high-powered station could be expected to he completed in November. The sites of beam . stations for communication with CafStla and_ South Africa had been placed at the disposal of the Marconi Company. • The . stations were due' for completion early in October. The sites of the beam stations for communication with India, and Australia had been submitted for^p'p^4l|> ari^a< approval. These should be completed ■within nine months of the provision of the sites. Latest reports indicated that the South African and Canadian stations would be completed about the same time as the corresponding stations here. The stations in India and Australia would probably not fee ready before the end of the year or early hr 192 d. The Dominions had. been invited to nominate representatives on a permanent committee presided over by the Assistant Postrnas ter-Oenera I to consider practical details of the working of the services, including, lor ex- , ample, routine, messages and tariffs.
