STRATFORD HOSPITAL
“MATERNITY WARD” INSPECTION.
Div T. L. Paget, Inspector of Maternity Hospitals, paid an official visit to the Stratford Hospital this morning. Dr. Paget was met by the Superintendent (Dr. Steven), Matron Nutsey, Sister Ross, and the Chairman of the Board.
The Inspector held an exhaustive enquiry into the methods, and conducted a rigid inspection of the ward and appliances,- especially the sterilising plant and the sink accommodation throughout the institution. Dr. Paget sajd he was not given to throwing bouquets, but informed the 'Chairman of the Board that he was delighted with the whole outfit, and heartily congratulated the Board on the ujpto-date institution. He said' it was his intention to recommend Dr. Jellett, the leading authority on maternity work, also the heads of the St. Helens Homes to visit the Stratford Ward. In conclusion. Dr. Paget remarked tljat -Stratford had one of the finest and most up-to-date maternity homes in the Dominion, and further expressed) the opinion that it was the best he had visited in the course of Ids various inspections.
Mr Sole, on behalf of the Board, thanked Dr. Paget for his inspection, and said he was sure the people and the Stratford Board would he highly pleased with the report. Hie Medical Superintendent was pleased with Dr. "Paget’s : visit and his eulogistic reference tp the Ward.
