OBITUARY
A London cablegram to-day reports the death of Lord Sherard.
The death took place at Auckland last week of Mr J. J. Kirkbride, who at one time travelled in Taranaki for Messrs Sargood, Son and Ewen.
A Press Association message from Cfcristchurch reports the death of Hi's Russell, wife of the Hon G. W. Russell, after a very brief illness.
Eltham reports the death of Mrs D. Baldwin. Deceased, who was a native of Burnley, Lancaster, had been a resident of Eltham for some years, and bad been an invalid. She leaves a family of one son (Mr C. • Baldwin, [nglewood), and three daughters, Mr s Skipper, Mrs Bridge (Hawera). and Mrs W. Kaye ('Burnley). Deceased had reached the advanced age of 74 years.
One of Waverley's oldest find most respected residents, Mr Jonti Johnstone, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, in "»s 84th year. Deceased was a native of Scotland, loving been born in Fife in IS 10. I'? sailed from Glasgow in 1854, arriving i» Wellington after a voyage lasting si x months. He saw service in the Maori War, and was awarded the New Zealand Medal. He »vns * member of the local school committee for many years, and during his 60 years' residence in the district had always been prominently avoeiatcd Wjtth. the Presbyterian Church, and on his retirement as manager in 1910 ho was presented ,vith a gold watch and chain in appreciation of his valuable services to the Church. The deceased was one of the oldest and most enthusiastic members of the Wavorley Bowling Club.
