ENGLAND AND IRELAND. COALITION ACTION JUSTIFIED. Press Association—Copyright. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association, (Received 11.15 a.m.) Ottawa, September 4. The Irish elections, are a complete vindication of the Coalition Ministry, declared Lord Birkenhead, who is attending the .Canadian Bar .meeting at Montreal. He said that the justification of the Coalition Government would be found In the conduct of the war and the Irish Free State Treaty. "That treaty was possible only under Coalition. The Liberals could not achieve it, and it could not be looked for from the 'Diehards and Tories."
Though the re-union of Ireland with England might come, he continued, "there are facts which will aid, such as the economic realities, business relations, trade, commerce, customs and kindred subjects." Lord Birkenhead pointed out- that England was Ireland's best customer, and in the present state of the European market Ireland was England's best customer.
