Mr and Mrs T. W. Reilly late of Eltham, left yesterday for Wellington, en route for Australia. Mr H. D. Smith, a member of the local branch of the Bank of Australasia, has been seriously ill In Dr. Gordon's Hospital for the last three weeks. His friends will be pleased to learn that he is now improving ciowy. Mr Victor Beck, the veteran theatrical advance, was in Stratford on Monday arranging for the appearance in the Town Hall on Monday, August 20th, of "The Sunshine Players," musical comedy and revue ,• company. ▼ The Hon. Myrtle Jelllcoe and the Hon. Nora Jellicoe, daughters of the Governor-General, arrived in New Plymouth yesterday on a brief visit, staying at the Criterion Hotel. Accompanied by Mrs D. Riddiford and Miss Glllet they motored up from Marton, and returned this morning.
The death is reported by the Press Association from Wellington of Mrs A. E Donne, wife of the secretary of the Wellington Woollen Company. In her early life she developed a very fine soprano voice, which made her well-known in Australia and New Zealand.and it was generally believed to have been capable yf bringing her still more fame if she had cared to exploit it. Later on, her throat failed her, and she had not been heard in pub:- for <x,any years. Her sister is the wife of Mr W. S. Percy, the ,ve!l-known oomedian.
