PLOT ON FRENCH LINER.

[United Press Association.] New York, December 22,

The police at New Orleans arrested five Germans accused of a plot to destroy the French liner Ebcharabeau. it is alleged that the men constructed a bomb, with clockwork attachment, and consigned it to France by parcel post, per the Kochambeau. Numbers of French reservists from New York were expected to travel at, the same time.

BELGIUM’S NEUTRALITY.

New York, December 23

The Belgian Minister in the United States has made a statement explaining that Germany’s claim that proofs existed of Belgium’s neutrality being violated by France previous to the war was entirely unfounded. The Belgian attache, fearing German ' aggression, consulted France as to what military measures would be taken to prevent a German attack, but no agreement was reached between the Governments, the military attaches merely discussing the question.

The four Germans who were arrested at New Orleans while preparing i bomb timed to explode at sea aboard a British or French merchantman, have confessed.

Rev. Dr. Helliss, Brooklyn, who was hitherto regarded as Germany’s greatest intellectual asset in the United States, has undergone conversion. He denounced Germany from the pulpit as a world-menace, burglar, bandit, and murderer. The Teutons in the congregation rose in a mass and demanded Dr. Helliss’s resignation.
