Beef is in better demand owing to the short supply of Irish and chilled-, New Zealand , hinds 6|d, fores 5Jd, chilled hinds 7gd, fores The butter, market is firm, with Danish very slow, and supplies decreasing at 150 s to 154 s per cwt. New Zealand is firm and in good , demand at 136 sto 138 s, .Australian, is, firm and moderate supplies coming forward at 134 s to 1365.
The cheese market is not quite so firm.'Canadian is in firm demand, but only moderate for white and coloured, iper cwt. 78s to- 795, .exceptionally good 80s. The New. Zealand market declined further, white and coloured being 76s to 775. The Rnahine, Tainui, and Pakeha, were in dock,. The Ruahine and Tainui are discharging butter and cheese now, but the Pakeha cannot discharge for three days. The dairy produce market is rather unsettled owing to delay in deliveiy from the docks. The hemp market is somewhat steadier, very little New Zealand being on hand. /Now Zealand good fair grade per ton £26, these prices be. ing* nominal. January to March New Zealand good fair grade per top £24 10s, fair £22 10s, fair .current Manila £25. The output from the Manila for the week was 16,000 hales.

TALLOW SALES.
MR NEWTON KING’S REPORT. On Tuesday,'December loth, I held my monthly sale of above produce to a good attendance of buyers. The catalogue comprised—24s bales and 112 sacks of wool, 1618 sheepskins, 15 casks and 12 tins tallow, 367 hides and 1071 calf skins. Wool, in sympathy with other markets, receded id to id per lb., heavy conditioned and log-stained being,most affected. Bright and wellgrown wools almost held their own with November sales" prices. . Howlever, I was able to place the bulk of the catalogue at full market rates, although in some Oases hot up to venors’ expectations. .Some of the best solos were 11 bales at 9j}d, 4 at 9Jd, 21 at 9Jd, 47 at 9d, 25 at B|d. I quote.:— s Wool.—Medium crossbred 9id to 9fd, course B§d to 9i-d, inferior BJd, in sacks Bid to Bj|d, dead s}d to B|d, black 7icl T crutchings 63d to 6id, pieces s;jd- to 6id, locks and pieces 4id to 4|d. Sheepskins.—Advanced id per lb for full woolled skins, medium crossbred 9d, coarse BJd to Bjfd, hoggets Bj-d to B|d, country skins ?;]d to Sjd, lambs 6f,*d to 8-id, pelts 3d to 4|d, damaged 6id to 7d, dead and damaged 4|d to 63d, skin pieces. 3-id, damp lines 6s 7d to 8s lid, pelts Is 2d.to ls.7d, salted, heavy 7s Id to 8s Id, light 3s 9d to 6s 4d, pelts Is to Is Bd, lambs Is Id to Is. lid. . ■ Tallow.—Advanced 15s per ton. Best in casks 22s 9d, medium 21s, in tins 19s to 20s.
Hides.—Advanced Jd per lb. Ox. No stout offering. Heavy 9sd, 9d to 9|d, light 9gd, cow heavy Bfd to B|d„ medium BJd to B|d, light Bjd to 9Jd, cut -BJd to 8-gcl, farmers’ heavy 8d to Bld, light B|d to B§d, inferior 61 dto 7§d, cut and slippy s id. to 7d, stags 4«d to 7d, yearlings 8d to 9id, slippy 6id.
Calf Skins.—There is still a keen demand for good' sound calf at late high rates. Special lines 13d to 14d per lb, firsts l2|d to 13d, seconds lljjd to 12-i|d, light lljd, meaty Bid to 10Jd, cut 7d to 7id, slippy 5d to 6d, dry Is 10d each, foal Is.
