THE REBELLION ENDED.
OPERATIONS TO BE DIRECTED TO GERMAN SOUTH-WEST AFRICA.
United Phess Association (Received 9.30 a.m.)
Pretoria, December 10. Twelve hundred Free State rebels surrendered on Tuesday. General Botha announces that the rebellion has ended. He now proceeds against German South-west Africa.
The surrender was the direct outcome of Botha's operations in th< Reitz district, which culminated on the 4th in capturing 700 and also 200 who surrendered. Botha announces that only small hands remain in the Free State for whom the police will suffice. The people's patriotic sacrifices converted a grave danger into the means of cementing the Union. Just punishment will be meted'out, but he would appeal to forbearance and forgiveness. Botha adds: "Maritz and Kemp will seek to invade the Union, and our next duty will be to deal with that danger and make it impossible for German South-west Africa to be used as r iKUse against the Union in the future."
