COUNCIL'S MONTHLY MEETING..!

The monthly meeting of the Whaugumoraoua County Council was hold

on Wednesday, when there were prosent: Crs. A. Meredith (.chairman), W. A. McCutchan, M. Geever, E. B. Roberton, T. It. Mounsey, A. Coyne and J. McCluggage.

Mr W. P. Hodge's tender to supply ■six horses and driver for road grader at £3 per day was accepted. The,matter of employing a suitable man to work the road grader was left in the hands of the engineer.

It. Roberts was appointed dog-tax collector. The registration fees were fixed at 5s for sheep, and cattle dogs, and 10s for all .other dogs, reducible in each case by 2s 6d if/paid on or before March 31st next.

J. H. Morison wrote re work on Mangaewa road loan. It was' decided that plans be submitted tor the expenditure of £IOO of the grant of £250 in accordance with the Engineer's recommendations, on the truck to J. Wokoin's, and plans be also submitted tor work done and improvements required to points and idlings, and that the clerk apply for instalment on account of the loan of £llOO. J.Rentoul and others wrote re the state of the Kohi road. The Engineer, is to submit proposals to tho Public. Works Department for improvement of bad places and corners on the roj,ylAfter discussion a request by the engineer for altered terms of employment was acceded to. The matter of obtaining a subsidy on the Brewer and Mureott-Mangae-hu loan as against past expenditure was left in the hands of the chair, man. The clerk was instructed to procure from the Public Health Department drafts of model by-laws re public health. ,-<■.

The matter of appointing a poundkeeper and ranger was left in the hands of Cr. MeCptehan to report. Cr. McCu.tchan's action in selling 2yds of metal to T. Davis, to spread in front of his butcher's shop, was confirmed. .

The Engineer was instructed to prepare an estimate for widening Rimuputa road to 12 feet from its junction with Tahora road to Maikai road, and the clerk is to obtain full particulars of the grant.
