ENEMY FAILS IN OFFENSIVE.
(Received 8.50 a.m.) Paris* November 2
Official: The German attacks between the North Sea and the Oise are loss violent. We progressed southward of Dixmude, and southward of Gheluvolt, and held all other positions. A violent German offensive movement between Braween, Nannoy and Vailly completely failed.
The High Commissioner reports from London, 3rd November, 3.40 p.m. : ) The Admiralty reports that on arri- ! val at Akaba, in the Gulf of Akaba, in the north-east of the Rod Sea, the warship Minerva found the place in the occupation of soldiers (one had the appearance of a German officer), and •armed natives. The Minerva shelled the fort, and the town was evacuated. Tho landing part was destroyed, also the fort, barracks, office, and stores. Some loss was inflicted on the enemy, but there wore no British casualties. I
