The Admiralty communicates the following telegrams:— "Admiralty to Minister of Marine, Tokio: "I desire on behalf of the British Admiralty and Royal Navy to express at this crucial stage of tht war our deep sense of the efforts ano energy with which the Japanese navj is sustaining the cause of their ally. Apart from the great object of the extermination of the main German base in, the Pacific, the Japanese ships and squadrons are everywhere giving ushelp in a valuable character in the protection of trade, search for enemy's ships, and the convoy of troops to the decisive theatre of conflict." "The Minister of Marine to the Admiralty: "On behalf of the Imperial Japanese Navy, I tender my warmest thanks for your sincere 3nd cordial message, and assure you that it is r, matter of the utmost satisfaction to us both that perfect harmony and understanding exists everywhere between the two Allied navies, which striker; the true note of the main object of the compact, and which will tend to hasten the attainment of the ultimate goal."

Official.—The Admiralty announces that the monitors Severne, Humber and Mersey were recently engaged in operations on the Belgian coast, firing on the right flank of the German army. Owing to their light draught, they have been able to contribute materialjy to the success of operations in this district, abundantly justifying their acquisition on the outbreak of war. Detachments with machine guns were landed from these vessels to assist in the defence of Niouport, performing meritorious service.
