Ber'agoon, the Metropolitan favorite, finished a gallop lame. It was discovered that he had struck himself under the knee. His owner intends to scratch him for all engagements. Lilyveil has been scratched for the Epsom Handicap. The Daily Telegraph says Beragoon lias probably run his last race, and will go to the stud. WANCANUI JOCKEY CLUB'S MEETING. [By Cicero.] The Wanganui Jockey Club should Lie favored with a record spring meeting this year, seeing that the profits are to bo handed to the Patriot'c Fund. The horses engaged are o' good quality, and the fields promise to be. well up to the average. Of the fourteen which figure in the Flying Handicap, nothing will strip better than Sir Moseley, who has been getting through great work at Hamera. Sun bird, on performances, is let in lightly, and may be handy at the finish.
Sixteen names appear in the Maiden, bnt Flagfall and Don Francisco, each having won a race, are not eligible. Cowe and Blackball may be well backed.
I No less than twenty have been accepted for in the Putiki Hack Handicap, and in this race Flagfall, Princess Moutoa, and King Chira are a trio w'io appear well handicapped. Some of those competing in this event may do better on Saturday. Five only paid up for the Okehu Hurdles. Glenorchy (9.5), who has been let in lightly considering hi? Trentham form, should start favorite. The class of horses engaged in tho Hack Hurdles is really good, and at least one of the acceptors, Glen Nevis (10.13), would probably beat anything engaged in the open hurdles at a fair handicap. Nine still remain in the Wangan n Guineas, including the best of last year's two-year-olds—Hyettus. who with First Flight and Football should make tho event interesting. Itewi Poto is looked on by some sportsmen as a "moral" for the Spring Handicap, but Passadena wiil doubtless carry the support of many followers of the game. A rather poor lot figure in the Dime Hack Handicap, when the disappointing Austin and Garance may be we 1 .! supported.
