A very enjoyable "book social" was held last evening by the Methodist Young Men's Bible Class in the Regan Street schoolroom. Mr C. Downey was in the chair. After the singing, by the assembly of the National Anthem, a greatly-appreciated programme of musical items was given, the following being the entertainers: Master Henry (recitation), Orchestra (Orchestral item). Mi- Bale Messrs Barker. Foster and Lawn (trio). Messrs Barker and Foster (duet), Messrs Lingard (recitation and song), Blanchitt (cornet solo), Belton (recitation). Barker (song), Ranford (recitation). Lawn (song). Chas. Downey (recitation), Kimberley (hnmorous recitations), and Messrs Lawn, Barker and Lavnason (trio). The book-title competition provided a great deal of amusement, Miss Jackson winning the prize. The chairman, lin the course of his remarks, thanked nil m!io had helped the Bible Class. jDnring the evening supper was handJed round, and before breaking up the company indulged in a few games.
