RECALCITRANT SEAMEN.

i BEFORE THE dfcURT. IPaa Pbbbs Aibociation.] Wellington, August 29. Nineteen seamen, firemen and trimmers on the Orari; and three seamen on the Limerick, who refused duty yesterday, demanding the same wages as those to be paid to men on the troopships, whose articles were signed in New Zealand, appeared before Mr Cooper, S.M., to-day. Counsel for accused said a legal point involved was whether the men’s articles signed in England did not lapse when the vessels became troopships. The prosecution refused to admit that new articles were necessary. The defence undertook to enter a plea of guilty if, after argument, the Magistrate held that the men had acted unlawfully. The Magistrate decided to hear argument on Monday, and advised the men to go back to their ships and obey orders in the meantime.
