Bell'made si statement that until afier 2 p.m. that day no instructions had been received from the imperial authorities, and there was no reason to believe that tho advance section of the expeditionary force would be despatched immediately. They were informed what to do that afternoon, and immediately instructions were issued to send the mon to the Basin Reserve. They had said farewell to the first 1400 / m-'i' The Council dealt with the Trusts Amendment and War Contributions an I Validation Bills, and passed the measures through all stages withoai amendment. 'Tho Council then adjourned until 3 p.it, on Wednesday, 'ioth inst. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATSVES. The House met at 7.30 p.m. ' In reply to Mr Russell, Mr Massey said the Mortgages Extension Bill had received the Governor's assent an i was now law. Tho amendments made in the Harbors Bill by the Legislative Council were agreed to. , Hon. A. L. Herd man moved ihe second reading of the Trustees Amendment Bill, validating the payment by trustees of trust funds into builling societies, savings banks, municipal corporations, investments, iv.'.'l pubHe companies while a state of war exists in New Zealand, and for oix months thereafter. Sir' Joseph Ward said he believed the Bill was necessary in the present crisis and as a matter of urgency was passed through all its stages without amendment. The Premier announced that he did 'iot intend to ask tho House to go on with oilier business, and at 5.45 he moved that tho House adjourn until Wednesday, 2Gth inst., at 7.30 p.m.
