WAR OFFICE ULTIMATUM. [By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] [United Press Association.] (Received 9.15 a.m.) j London, July 22. At the Rifle Association meeting, Merett declared the Australians would refuse to acept the*. War Office proposals because it meant the decadence of rifle clubs, on which rested the Australians’ second line of defence. No' Australian Government would accept the War Office ultimatum at the bayonets point. Ross, Canadian Commandant, said if the War Office persisted no Canadian team would visit Bisley. Lord Gheylesmore agreed to convey the Colonials’ views to the War Office. (Received 10.45 a.m.) The colonials’ stand against the new regulations is the general subject of camp conversatioin.
