Unlucky Thirteen.
FISHING PARTY DISASTER, SIX REACH THE SHORE. [By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] [United Press Association.! (Received 8.55 a.m.) Sydney, July 11. Last night a fishing party of thirteen was returning to Tweed Heads when the launch capsized three-quarters of a mile from land. Six managed to reach the shore in an exhausted condition. The body of the seventh occupant, A. Buchanan, drifted ashore. The six missing are:— A. Arnold. C. Gibson. G. Gippott. Treeney. J. Barrett. Badham. The tugboat was prevented from crossing the bar to make a search owing to the high sea running. Another vessel went out and signalled late at night that the search had been unsuccessful. The weather was bitterly cold and there was little hope even if the unfortunate men managed to keep afloat, that they would survive the exposure.
