DOCTOR’S WIFE ARRESTED,
[By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] Times and Sydney Sun Services.
New York, July 9. Mrs Carmen has been arrested.
A cablegram on July 4 stated that Dr. Carmen, a fashionable physician, maintained that he was ignorant who shot Mrs Bailey, a rich patient, in his rooms., The police discovered £hat Mrs Carmen had installed a dictaphone in her husband’s room, suspecting his relations with patients but, finding her suspicion groundless, removed the dictaphone on the night of the murder to prevent her husband knowing how she spied upon him. The mystery deepened at the discovery in Dr. Carmen’s attic of an unopened box of cartridges similar to those used. Dr, Carmen reports that while returning from a professional call a man fired at him. and managed to escape by increasing the speed of his motor. A man and a Woman corroborated this statement, but the police discredit the story.
