The Rev. F. Robertson, of Eltham, will occupy the pulpit of St. Andrews’ Church on Sunday evening. The Rev. J. Pattison goes to Eltham to take

Mr J. White, the well-known and popular traveller for Speight’s beer, who has been “on the road” for twenty-four years, has gone into the hotel-keeping line, having assumed control of a house in Napier. Mr White’s many friends throughout the Dominion will wish him every success in his new venture. Of the Sports “Jack” White is one of tho good ’uns.

The late Mr B. L. O’Brien, whose death occurred yesterday at his residence, Standish Hill, New Plymouth, was a captain in the Imeprial Army (the Horse Guards) and came out to New Zealand in the early days. In April, 1876, he was appointed Governor of the Auckland Prison. ®,He remained there for some years and was subsequently transferred to Lyttelton and other places, and later on to Now Plymouth, until his retirement about eight years ago. He has since resided in New Plymouth, where he was well known and held in high esteem by a large circle of friends. He leaves a widow and grown-up family of four sons and six daughters, one of latter being Matron of the Stratford District Hospital.
