YESTERDAY’S MATCHES. Owing to the rough weather yesterday most of the games set down joi decision were abandoned. in the lirst junior division, Star forfeited to Stratford and Inglewood to lukapa. The game, Clifton v. New Plymouth H.S., was not played. The School asked iAr a postponed, but it is understood that Clifton will claim a foifeit. in the second junior division, Star forfeited to Stratford, and therefore tlie only game played in Stratford was that between Stratfoid D.H.S. and Clifton, the visitors winning by 17 to nil. The game was played on Victoria Park, and the ground was so cut up that good play vas impossible, The Clifton team had much the advantage of weight, and there was no disgrace to the School in being defeated. ft says a good deal for the defensive work of the Stratford boys that the visitors were unable to score, in the first .pell, the whole of their score being compiled in the second spell.

ETRATFORO v. CLIFTON. The following players have been selected to play Clifton seniors at Waitara on Saturday, leaving by the morning train:—Bonnor, Brown,• Beiin, Wood. Woods, Dewar, Smith, Higgin sen, Whittington, Stewart, Young. Dive, Fearo'i, Sullivan, Reid. Th o football match to be played at Toko to-morrow between Toko arid Whangamomona should prove a close contest, and an interesting fixture. The chances of both teams in the shield contest depended entirely upon the result of this match. Patrons can therefore anticipate some keen play. A big crowd is expected to be present at kick-off time, viz., 3 p.m. Hie following players will represent Toko. Backs—Dixon, GTllick, Holdup, Corbett, Cheer, Bayly; forwards— Mather, Wiles, Ritchie, Marfell, McKenzie, Evans, Caskey, Ferguson, Kilpatrick { Emergencies—Backs, Rutherford, A. Marfell; forwards, LyFord. ■
