Villa describes Huerta's. insinuation that the Constitutionalists are joining the Americans as "a Satanio suggestion," adding that if necessary the Constitutionalists are ready to face the two enemies. The South American mediators will meet at Niagara Falls. DISTRESS IN MEXICO CITY. INSUFFICIENCY OF FOOD. (Received 8.0 a.m.) Mexico City, May 6. Despite General "Haas's blockade, food continues to reacn Vera Cruz, but in insufficient quantities. Prices are advancing. The lowest classes are suffering from unemployment and dear food. : Drastic steps are being taken to relieve the city of undesirables and those unable to support themselves. OPERATIONS AT VERA CRUZ. CARRANZA AND MEDIATORS. (Received 11.5 a.m.) Washington, May 6. There are persistent rumours that Villa is on route to attack Tampico, where fighting continues resultlessly. General Funston has been ordered to extend the operations around Vera Cruz in any manner his discretion dictates. If hostilities are resumed the United States proposes to appoint Major-General Conard Wood to the supreme command. He will advance along the railway to Mexico City, but .uch a plan will be inoperative until the result of the peape negotiations is known. The mediators announce that the report that they are again approaching .Carranza seeking his co-operation is lincorrest.
