TRADE WITH HULL.
Writing in March the Eastern Morning News says : Nine months ago, when the Hon." T. £igh Commissioner for New Zealand, visited the city, the commercial connection of the Port of Hull with New Zealand was iiroiight very prominently to the front. Mr Mackenzie expressed himself as highly gratified with the prospect held out by Hull as a distributing centre for merchandise troni the Antipodes. The great question is as to how far it will he possible for Hull to supersede London as a landing port. This point has to be considered, that a great deal—by far the larger part—of the trade of New Zealand with this country has a special interest tor the people of the North, and that to firing to Loudon produce that is needed north of the Humber is to incur a needless expense. The Port of Hull as a collecting and distributing centre is in touch with a population of 11,280,000. Why should London be used as the port of supply for this population, when Hull is so much more easilv accessible ?
