A TERRITOR'AL'S DEATH. [Peb Pbess Association.] Dunedin, April 29. An inquest was held this forenoon into the circumstances attemTnig the death of trooper Philpott, who diud in the hospital as a result of injurica sustained while scouting at the Matarae military camp. After hearing evidence, the Coroner said he did not see that blamo was attachable to anyone, unless, possibly, to deceased himself in not having carried out the strict rules. He ought to have halted when challenged and,.fired at, but his ardour made him gallop straight on, with the result that his horse collided with that of another, trooper and both were thrown to the ground. A verdict was .returned in accordance with the medical testimony.
