THE SUFFRAGETTES.
MOTOR DRIVE IN A BATHING DRESS. Or Electric Telegraph—Copyright j Times and Sydney Sun Services. London, April 27. Thousands were amused at Hyde Park on Sunday afternoon. The suffragettes had proposed to hold a meeting in .boats on the Serpentine, but the authorities would not permit it, and moored the boats in the middle of tho Serpentine. Two suffragettes threw off their clothing and entered the water in bathing costumes. They were cheered as they swain to the boats and cut them adrift. A third suffragette arrived by motor-car in her bathing dress, and she also dived in. All were arrested by the boatmen, and escorted through an immense jeering crowd in Hyde Park to the police station, where they were charged and subsequently released. HOTEL BURNT DOWN. (Received 9.40 a.m.) London, April 28. The Bath Hotel, Felixstowe, was burned, the act being attributed to suffragettes. DAMAGE TOTREES. (Received 9 a.m.) London, April 28. To the trees adjoining the Felixstowe Hotel, tho suffragettes put inscriptions and did damage to the amount of £BO,OOO.
