"GO-TO-CHURCH" CAMPAIGN.

The "Go-to-Church" campaign in America lias had some remarkable results, so that the.promoters have been greatly encouraged. How long the effect will last is another thing. The "British Weekly," in summarising some of the returns, says that in Boston the attendance was increased in every • instance. Some churches, of course, are always full, and they were not much affected. In some churches with a scanty attendance, however, the attendance was trebled. Perhaps it, might be said that, on- the whole, the attendance went up at least by one-third. In Chicago twice as many people went to church as attended ordinarily. The Chicago press gave the movement the widest publicity. One daily paper there gave two full pages each Monday to sermons preached in Chicago and elsewhere the day before. Strong aggressive efforts were made. The mails were largely used, and some of the churches wore furnished with beautiful electric signs. At Syracuse, X.Y., the result of the campaign was ;i. church attendance in the city of 61,741, an estimated increase of about 7000 for the day. Some churches were crowded to the door. At Brooklyn the reports show an increase in attendance of as much as 100 per cent, in some instances.
