ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.

AN INQUEST ADJOURNED. [Pee Press Association.] Gisborne, March 2. An inquest was opened at To Araroa this morning concerning the 1 death of Robert Taylor, storeman. The statement that the man had been shot was erroneous. Dr. Davis deposed that a post mortem disclosed no external bruises but underneath the skin on the hack of the head was an abrasion which caused death. The base ot the skull was fractured. He could hardly believe that the injury was caused hy the man falling and striking some object, as deceased was not a heavy man. A Maori named Kowhai gave evidence as to finding the body, the pockets of deceased's clothes being turned inside out. The inquest was adjourned till next Monday.
