As a result of good shooting in the teams matches on Saturday the Auckland Rifle Club takes the Islington Cup and also the Club Coffee 60 guinea cup. *

With two matches fired that count forHhe Belt, Corp. F. W. Ching (Wellington), is leading with an aggregate of 195, one point ahead of Rifleman L. Belk (Feilding). Civilian markers are giving every satisfaction.

The Wellington Match is proceeding.

Following are results:— shots at 300, 500 and 600 yards.— ??

FIRST MATCH D SERIES,

Open only to those who have never . won a prize over £1 at a Rifle Association meeting; ten shots at

300, 500 and 600yds. Rifleman Owens (Kanieri), £2 ... 48 Rifleman Kulsen (Kanieri), £1 ... 48 Rifleman'Sunnex (Sounds), £1 ... 47 Wells (Sounds), Nicholson (Taradale), 47 and 46, received 15s; Hayward (Wainui), Smith (Wanganui), Armstrong (Whangamomona), Johnston (Gisborne), 46, and Morris Pe-i tone, 45, won 7s 6d. In the Extra Match, 800yds, seven' shots, Rifleman Ongley (Oamaru), i Blewitt (Mauriceville), Lieut. Morley: (Senior Cadets), Masefield (Sounds), Tronson (Taradale), and Mclver (To Awamutu), with a score of 35, won £1 18s each. There were 35 competitors. Shooting was resumed at 9 o'clock with, typical Trentham weather. The sky. was dull and drifting clouds gave, an uncertain light, while a corkscrew wind made markmanship as much a matter of luck as of skill. The general; result was much below the average. Several leading shots, including Corporal Ching, came to, grief. W. Cox (Auckland City Rifles), came back from 700yds on the verge of the possible, but cracked up badly at 600, scoring only 32 and finishing with an average of only 81. Ex-champion Ching secured 84, and the present champion, James, only 82. Cotterill's performance is considered exceedingly meritorious under the circumstances. Loveday's score of 91, was the best on the Collins range, where scores generally were lower than on the Sommorville range.

Following are the leading scores: Cotterill (Wellington) 92, H. Loveday (Ohura) 91, Cuthbertson (Tuamarina) and Causley (Thames) 90, Thomas (Petone) and Milroy (Nelson) 89, Bent (Auckland), Narhey (Eltham), Dowar (Oamaru) 88, Rait (Gisborne), Willoughby (Karori), Potter (Auckland), Hunt (Suburbs) 87, Mansfield (Sounds), Craw (Chorlton), Simmonds (Blenheim), McLeod ('Hastings) 85.
