DISPUTE IN THE IRON TRADE. ■ By Electric Telegraph—Copyright 1 [United Press Association.] (Received 10.50 a.m.) Sydney, February 24. “We are going to abide by the law, and we expect the men to do the same thing.” This is a sentence from the statement published on behalf of the employers in the iron trade, and raises the whole issue at stake in connection with this and other strikes. Tile iron trade is now practically paralysed. Most of the foundries are to all intents and purposes closed down. All the contracts for locomotives at Watermain’s are at a standstill. Steamer repairs are also stopped.
