Henms made a single off Armstrong, and the same batsman drove Laver for four and then a brace, bring up the score 'to 20. After a single, each off Laver, Sne'dden square-cut Armstrong to the . boundary. Hemus raised the total to 3Q, cutting Laver to the boundary for four singles and a brace off Armstrong. Noble replaced Laver. * In trying the. second run from a drive past the third man by Snedden, Waddv threw in and hit the wickets, and Hemus was run out (36-2-17). Smith filled the vacancy.
After luncheon adjournment, Auckland hack two wickets down for 73 (McCormiek, b Armstrong, 0; Henuis. rtm out 1?; Snedden, not out 35; Smith, not out 14; sundries, 7).
