SHOT BY A STARTING CUN. [Psb Press Association.! Wellington, February 3. Antonia Brogan, a married man, residing at fioseneath, died to-day under peculiarly sad c iron instances. On anniversary day, January 22, Brogan, was a spectator at the local regatta, and while moving about Clyde Quay he got in front of a start-ing-gun as it was fired for a race. The wad from the blank cartridge entered Brogan’s leg, inflicting a nasty wound. This received medical attention, but next day the injury assumed a serious nature, and Brogan was removed from bis borne to the hospital, where blood-poisoning set in.
the recent foxton drowning
Foxton, February 4
The body of a boy named Sidney Saintburg, drowned through falling off a jetty at Manawatn Heads last Wednesday, was found washed up on the river bank yesterday. At the inquest this morning a verdict of accidentally drowned was returned.
