A FIGHTING SPEECH.

Mr Estille, commercial superintendent of the Port of London authority, delivered a fighting speech condemning the misrepresentation by what he termed ."ajie-grindiug" critics of 'the methods of handling produce in the London Docks. found no fault with olher ports in endeavouring to divert trade, but protested stiongly against persons making misleading statements and displaying photogrophs secured at abnormal times, when tra.le was congested by the strike, as being the normal conditio* of affairs in London. He quoted figures to show, that London was the cheapest port and the best market for exporters, and had the best and most extensive storage. Thet sum of fourteen millions was to he expended on the dock and accommodation improvements, showing that the Authority was alive to the requirements of rapid trade expansion.
