TARANAKI CHAMPIONSHIPS. * The Taranaki lawn tennis championship meeting was concluded at Hawera yesterday. The courts were in excellent order, the weather was fine, and brilliant tennis was witnessed. Following are details of the day’s play:— MEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP DOUBLES Second round: Tonks and Caplen heat A. C. Thompson and H. I). Capleu, 13—11, G—2. Third round: Powdrell and Pearso beat White and Bell, G—l, G-—1; Ollivior and Webster heat Tonks and Caplen, 6—l, C—-1. Final: Ollivier and Webster beat Powdrell and Poarse, G—l, 6—2. LADIES’ CHAMPIONSHIP SINGLES Final: Miss A. L. Brewster beat i Miss D. Simpson, 6—5, 6—l. LADIES’ CHAMPIONSHIP DOUBLES. Semi-final: Misses Brewster and Graham beat the Misses Simpson, I—6. 6—l, 6—2. Final: Misses Brewster and Graham ; beat Misses Hughes 6—l, 6—5. MEN’S HANDICAP SINGLES. . A. Grade. ; Semi-final: Lampe (owe 10) beat Brown (5), 60—50. Final: Lampe beat Curtis (15), CO—--38.
