I A cyclone at Tamworth and Neraington'districts, accompaniel by torrential rain and hail, did widespread damage. j Manv houses were dismantled and unroofed. The latter included the' Anglican Church and a large butter factory. A big area of lucerne and tobacco crops was destroyed, the lo&s amounting to many thousands. There were several sensational escapes. Men were blown from a load of hav over a fence. .
The force of tlm wind may be gauged from the fact'that weather-board houses and sheds were smashed, pieces being blown clean away.
Pigs were lifted over fences. A flood added to the devastation, but luckily the storm exhausted itself in a limited area.
