Of living Englishmen, he says, Sir Ernest is the best fitted to carry it to a successful issue. Tho feat of discovering what is hidden behind the great white blank of the Antarctic, whether there are mountainous glaciers or frozen plateaux, appeals to the imagination as one of the few great achievements of exploration still left ’or the human race.
