THE MAYFIELD MURDER.

ERECTION OF THE CALLOWS. [Per Press Association.] Chnstchurch, December 10. It is understood that Alfred M. Biddle, who was convicted of the murder of Mrs Lilley at Mayfield, will be hanged. The gallows was taken to Lyttelton yesterday, and is now erected. The services of a hangman have been secured, but the sheriff lias not yet received the papers authorising him to proceed with the execution.
