EX-PRESIDENT DIAZ STABBED.
A Mexieah, whose* naiiie'is unknown, stabbed ex-President Diaz in the street inflicting severe wounds on the head and shoulders. The wounded man .vas taken to the hospital. It is not believed that his injuries are mortal. His assailant was arrested, but refused to state his reason for the deed.
UNSATISFACTORY CURRENCY. London, November 7. Huerta's decree suspending special payments and declaring bank notes legal tender, is sharply criticised in London. It is likely to disorganise foreign trade seriously and affect British and other railway . companies, since they are forced to receive payments in depreciated currency, while iividends are paid in gold. HUERTA'S REPRESENTATIONS. (Received 8.0 a.m.) Paris, November 7. The greatest reticence is maintained regarding Huerta's representations to the Cabinet in view of mediation. It is considered most unlikely that France will agree to such an action. ATTEMPT ON HUERTA'S LIFE. ASSAILANT BADLY HURT. (Received 11.30 a.m.) Mexico City, November 7. While he was driving in the streets an unidentified man seized Huerta's carriage horses, flourishing an automatic pistol. The frightened animal; reared, struck the man and stunned him. The assailant was arrested and taken to the hospital in a dying state. DIAZ RESTS EASILY. ' (Received 11.30 a.m.) Havanna, November 7. General Diaz is resting easily.
