MEXICO.

AN UNEASY FEELING. BRITAIN'S ATTITUDE. [By Electric Telegraph—Copyright] [United I'kkss Association.] Washington, October 2-1. President Wilson declined to make a statement to the Press correspondents regarding the Mexican situation, declaring that it required reticence. The Press harshly criticises Britain's failure and repudiates the British Minister's action in recognising Huerta by presenting him with credentials immediately after he declared a dictatorship. The Government officials urge the necessity of notifying the European Governments that any interference in Mexico is not desired by the United States. There is much irritation in Government circles at the British attitude. HUERTAS DECLARATION. Mexico City, October 24. Huerta has issued a statement solemnly asserting his intention to us< his power solely to re-establish peace and then hold fair elections. He is fully determined to protect the lives and property of foreigners. He do clares that the difference between the American and Mexican races is so fundamental that they are unlikely to understand each other properly. Referring to his non-recognition by the United States, he says that the Washington officials had no right to commit their country to an unjust and disastrous course. ANGLO-AMERICAN RELATIONS. Times— Sydney Sun Special Cables. London, October 24. Nothing is known in London of any unsatisfactory development in the Anglo-American relations respecting Mexico. Views are being repeatedly exchanged between Sir E. Grey and Mr Page, but there is no friction in any direction, nor have communications from Washington possessed thecomminatory character attributed to them.
