THEFT FROM A JEWELLER'S.

Invercargill, October 8
Two youths named Jas. Foley and Charles McCais, charged with having broken and entered the jeweller's shop of A. E. Arthur, and stealing therefrom jewellery to the value of £254, were committed for trial, bail being allowed each in two sureties.
A BIGAMIST.
Auckland, October 8
Tom Ansley was charged at the Police Court to-day with making a false declaration for the purpose of obtaining a certificate of marriage. It was stated that the accused had a wife in England and went through a form of marriage at the Registry Office in Auckland, in December, 1911. Ansley pleaded guilty, and was. committed for sentence.
PASSIVE RESISTERS.
Invercargill, October 8
A batch of youths were before the Magistrate's Court this morning for having failed to render personal service as required by the Defence Act. A conviction was recorded in each instance, and fines were inflicted in some instances up to £2.
