The following is the fourteenth an* nual report of the Inglewood Co-opera-tive Bacon Curing Co., Ltcj., to be presented to the annual meeting of shareholders in the Parish Hall, Inglewood, on Saturday, 11th inst., at 1.30 p.m.:—• t : . “Owing to the dufiihishcd supply of pigs, prices for pigs and also for the factory products have been, very.high during the past year, whilst , the demand for bacon has been very keen, and is still unsatisfied. Although the number of pigs handled at the factory was less than that for the previous year,,the amount paid out shows a substantial increase. During the year the Company has paid out to shareholders the sum of £559 8s Id in excess of the market price of pigs. A further payment of £522 10s 9d, being at the rate of one farthing per lb on all pigs received, has 'also been authorised and paid. The working of the Insurance Fund has been most satisfactory, and a refund of threepence per pig has been made on all pigs received. A dividend at 5 per pent, on share capital has been authorised to be paid. The rate of depreciation has been increased, ample allowance has been made for bad and doubtful debts, and there remains a balance of £3l 9s 6d to carry forward. The number of shareholders again shows a large increase, whilst the share capital account still continues to bo satisfactory. In anticipation of a largely increased supply of pigs during the coming season, further improvements and addition to the buildings and plant are being made. The outlook for the coming season is a bright one, and your directors would urge you to do your utmost to make it a record season, in so far as the number of pigs is concerned. It is confidently anticipated that the prices to 1)0 paid for pigs for the season will bo high. You are required to elect two directors in place of Messrs. Chard and Dobson, who retire,in rotation and are eligible for re-election; Also an auditor in place of Mr Hopson, who again offers his services.
