RAINFALL FOR AUGUST.
There were twenty-one wet days in Stratford last month, but on some o' the days the fall was hardly visible to the naked eye, so to speak, as, for instance, the fall of .Olin. on the oth The maximum fall was 1.66 in. on the 11th, other falls over half an inch being .Join. or the 4th, ,73in. on the 12th, and .71in. on the 22nd. It is unnecessary to state that Jupiter Fluvius madea good start in September, rain commencing about midnight on August 31st and coming down in considerable quantities on toeptomber Ist—yesterday. Inglewood had the same number of wet days as Stratford, the total fall being 7.17 in. The highest fall was on the 11th—l.SSin. Other Tall were .37in. ua the 22nd, .79in. on the 31st. .78in. oh the 4th, ,sbin. on the !2ib. and ."din. on the 24th. There was ;; total rainfall of 0.22111 over 19 days in the month of August in New Plymouth, as compared with 3.71 in. on 12 days for the corresponding month last year.
