ALLEGED BURGLARY

Jas. Leonard'and Phillip O'Donnell, both 19 years of ago, were arrested here on a charge of burglary at Wellington and theft of money and jewellery from the dwelling of Frederick Saunders, to the value of £lO3. They camo before the Court and were remanded till Friday.
SHIPPING COMPANY FRAUD
Auckland, August 30
The Supremo Court lias concluded the hearing of the Onehunga cases arising out of an alleged fraud on the Union Company involving a substantial sum by means of fictitious paysheets. William Saunders, William Owens, and Richard Tyrrell wore charged with conspiracy in falsification ami forgery. Saunders was sentenced to three voars' imprisonment and Owerts and Tyrell to one year's impri--Bonment. Henry Lloyd Davis, charged with false pretences in connection with the same offence, was sentenced to six months' imprisonment.
PUBLICAN EXONERATED
Auckland, August 30
After hearing medical evidence, Mr Fraser, S.M., dismissed the charge of manslaughter against Robt. Mitchell, ex-licensee of the Shamrock Hotel, arising out of the death of a boarder named Stimpson, who, it was alleged, had not received proper attention after falling downstair* in the hotel and sustained injuries which caused his death. The evidence showed that the injuries were mo.h that death was inevitable.
