At the inquest, on, Donne, tjhe evidence showed that /(ho couple had misunderstandings. The husband sent ’or his. boxes on the morning of the ;ragedy, and the wife refused to give ,hem up. She'went to the shop where ip was working, armed with a revolver. She declared that - she did not intend to' shoot, but the revolver went >ff accidentally. The jury returned a verdict of wilful murder against Mrs Donne, whq excitedly cried: “You caniot tail it murder—not wilful murder.”

A Sydney cablegram dated August 7 stated: A shooting tragedy occurred it AVoolloomooloo. William Joseph Donne and his wife had been living apart for the past few days. His wife went to-day to the shop where Donne is ’employed as a butcher’s salesman. The couple were talking together quietly outside, when Donne foil shot, and expired immediately. The wife has been charged with murder, At present nobody has been found who actually saw the revolver ired. Mrs Donne declared that she lid not intend to shoot, hut only to frighten her husband. Besides three loaded cartridges, the revolver contain'd two blank cartridges filled with soap.
