Coleman) explained to the meeting that bankrup. could not be found at present. Hi. mother had told him (Mr Coleman; that she did not know where he was. Bankrupt called and stated that he had taken a bush-felling contract at Mutau, where letters would hud him ; but on Monday Mrs AicPheo stated that bankrupt had not taken the contract. Regarding the estate, it was desirable to ascertain the exact position as regards the bill-of-salc over bankrupt’s bullocks and plant, which appeared to have been given after a distress warrant against him had been returned nulla bona. But there were no assets in the estate to pay for the necessary investigations. There might be some balance from the County Council ,contract, but this would probably bo absorbed in meeting the claims of wages men. Since the previous meeting of creditors, somecreditors had expressed a desire that bankrupt might bo publicly examined with a view to subsequent prosecution if necessary. Crown Prosecutor was satisfied that there was ground for a prosecution, the Crown would hear the cost of the orosecution.

Mr Ferguson said that at last meet:ng it was decided to see what money vas duo from the County Council. Since that date he understood that he Council had made a payment to Hedge in respect of money due as royalty on metal. Ho did not think hat was right. If one was paid all should be paid. Mr Coleman said bankrupt had broken his contract with the County and t was doubtful if the County >vas ibu'nil to pay him anything as of •ight. Tlid ’“County had been duly notified that any money due to hank■upt shot'lld he'paid to him (Mr Colenan).

In reply to Mr McDonald (Central Co-op. Store Ccs) Mr Coleman said the last public examination had cost ihout £l7.
