Yesterday the Stratford ladies were defeated by Whakatika team (New Plymouth) by four goals to nil. After the match tho visitors were entertained at afternoon tea at Davis’ tea rooms.

The Wairarapa hockey team, which lias held the Nordon Cup for the first two seasons, was defeated by Wanganui by four goals to one after a very one-sided match. Wanganui outclassed their opponents in every department of the game. CRICKET. AUSTRALIA v. RHODE ISLAND. New York;. July 31. In a second match the Australians defeated the Rhode Islanders by 254 runs (Macartney 76) to 129.
