STEAMER STRIKES A REEF.

Tile steamer Tremper, laden with passengers, struck a reef near Eo&opus Island. The passengers broke into a panic and the officers were almost overpowered amid the disorder. The vessel was beached on the bank of the Hudson River in the nick of time, sinking in shallow water.
